Locals can join the ARTScrawl for their monthly adventure into the world of art in Albuquerque. This month, there are four options to choose from.
Tortuga Gallery on Edith Blvd will be holding an opening reception for a new exhibit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The new exhibit features works from 22 different artists, who all responded to a prompt of the idea of rebirth and made visual art in response.
Sumner and Dene will actually be holding two separate events in the same building. Downstairs will have the New Mexico landscapes exhibit, featuring work by Jennifer Cavan and Reg Loving. Both painters are known for their landscapes of New Mexico. Upstairs will be holding a silent auction, the proceeds from which will go to OFFcenter, which holds free educational arts courses, a studio, and even selling opportunities. The silent auction will be for ‘Little Houses’, which are miniature houses made by a variety of local artists.
The final location is Harwood Art Center, which will actually have an artist talk starting at 5:30 pm with Natalie Voelker. Her works focus on portraits to express the complexity of the human experience. James Black’s art will also be shown at the art center, which are digital caricatures of Albuquerque residents.
Events like this often use printing services to their advantage, as they often have information on the artist(s) and the pieces on display. ARTScrawl is free to attend, and takes place the first Friday of the month. It will run from 6:00 to 8:00 pm this evening, November 2.
