Jersey City to become home to new middle school
A new middle school will be opened by the Hudson Montessori School in Jersey City.
Gina Reeves, Montessori Director, said that the school has a rigorous academic curriculum and focuses on collaboration and project-based learning. Reeves added that the school will provide meaningful ways in which the students can use their skills.
The curriculum in the new middle school will include literacy, research and development, data science, music and the arts, filed trips, and hands-on projects as well as community outreach efforts. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details into the individual subjects and their offerings.
Grace Jolly, the founder of the Montessori schools, said that the director of the new middle school will be Dr. Grace Sanvictores. As someone who has been with the school since 2009, she has worked to develop a STEAM program which is the first of its kind. Jolly added that Dr. Sanvictores will be able to channel her energy and tenacity into the programs at the middle school.
The director of the STEAM program will be Michelle Velho and Dr. Sanvictores are working on developing an interdisciplinary curriculum for the school. Dr. Sanvictores said that each student will receive individualized attention so they can build an academic portfolio which will enable them to apply to their high school of choice.
The school is expected to open for the next academic year.
