Weekend presents walking, running, or cycling opportunity

The first of what might become many CaroMont Community Challenges is almost upon us here in Gastonia.

CaroHealth, in conjunction with several community groups in Gaston County, is hosting a run, walk, or bike event designed to inspire local residents to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Money raised will be donated to the robotics programs at Gaston County Schools. The robotics program encourages students to excel in science, technology, and math.

The Community Challenge takes place within the atmosphere of a family-friendly festival. Activities will start with bike rides of 39 and 50 miles at 7:30 am, followed by a 5K run at 9:00 am, and then a single-mile fun walk at 10:00 am. Races begin and end on the Forestview High School campus at 5545 Union Road, Gastonia.

Participation is not a requirement for attendance; there will be free games and other Forms of entertainment for the entire family if they do not fancy walking, running, or cycling. Vendors from throughout the county, as well from the surrounding counties, will be on hand to introduce and demonstrate their health-related products and services. In addition, community groups will be present to inform attendees of the local resources available to them.

The first CaroMont Community Challenge is taking place tomorrow, May 17. Attendees will surely want to collect any hand-outs that organizations and vendors have engaged Print companies to produce, so as to gain the maximum benefit from the event.
