A new WhiskGars Cigar & Co. cigar and cocktail lounge will be coming to downtown Gastonia.
Jacob Hibberts, owner of the shop, said it will be located on Main Avenue and be an upscale spot for sitting down and enjoying high-quality beverages and smokes, along with a menu of appetizers. He added that this will be a place for those in Gastonia to enjoy some style, class, and a bit of splendor. He said is not the kind of shop one would expect to find in Gastonia or even Charlotte, but the city has great promise and is expected to grow.
Renovations are currently underway on the shop, which is at the Esquire Hotel near Barrister’s. The shop will feature lounge space, spanning 3,000 square feet, a walk-in humidor with premium tobacco worth $100,000, and a system for filtering the smoke for cocktail patrons. In general, even those who do not like cigars or cigarettes should find it to be a comfortable spot for socializing, enjoying the company of friends, or holding business meetings, where Business Cards from business card printing are often exchanged. Events will also be held at the shop including jazz on the weekend and a ticketed Kentucky Derby party.
Hibberts said that the shop is expected to open in mid- to late fall, with an official opening before Thanksgiving.
