A new executive director of the Textile Technology and Fiber Innovation Center of Gaston College has been named.
Jasmine Cox, who most recently has been the director of Textile Technology Programs and Business Innovation at the college, has been appointed to the position.
The Textile Technology and Fiber Innovation Center is on the Kimbrell Campus of the college and is a partner in the Manufacturing and Textile Innovation Network. The center enables students to get hands-on experience with the latest equipment and technology used in testing, research and development, and production processes for the textile industry. Textile manufacturing plays an important role in Gaston County, of which Gastonia is the county seat. Cox will have a vital role in filling the area’s need for skilled and qualified workers in the industry.
Cox will now join the President’s Cabinet and will be an important member of the leadership team of the college. She has been with the Textile Technology and Fiber Innovation Center since 2015, during which time she has been instrumental in expanding relationships between the college and manufacturers, customers, and brand developers in the area and across the state, with many customers, brand developers. This has included strengthening a partnership with the Wilson College of Textiles at North Carolina State University.
