New diner to open in Gastonia

The Metro Diner will be opening a new location of the chain in the new Franklin Woods commercial center that is currently being built in Gastonia.

The new development is across from the Franklin Square shopping center. The Metro Diner is joining the many other eateries and restaurants being built in the development. It will be sharing a building with Aspen Dental and will be in the far west side of the development.

The location in Gastonia will be 3,600 square feet in size. Mariah Kulkin, a spokeswoman for the chain, said that it will accommodate a total of 113 guests, 20 of whom can dine on an outdoor patio, with the remaining 93 dining inside. The plan is also to hire about 100 people from the area, some of whom may require business card printing services to help promote the establishment.

Metro Diner is a chain that began in Jacksonville, Florida in 1992. It has since expanded to 14 states with five locations in North Carolina, including Matthews, Huntersville, and Charlotte. The chain specializes in creating dishes from scratch and adding its own spin to classic meals. Its most popular dishes include the Iron City meatloaf platter, the Bold City Burger, and fried chicken and waffles.

The Gastonia restaurant is expected to open between July and September of this year.
