New bakery opens in Gastonia area

Floyd and Blackie’s Bakery recently opened in downtown McAdenville. This is only a short distance from Gastonia so that residents of that community will want to try out its many delicacies.

The bakery is owned by Greg and Kathy Ramsey. Kathy grew up in McAdenville and worked at the Village Restaurant. Greg grew up in Cramerton near to what is now Floyd and Blackie’s Coffee Shop, which the two opened seven years ago.

The bakery is in the space once occupied by the Village Restaurant and its name is in honor of their grandfathers, Floyd Barnhill and J.B. “Blackie” Blackwell.

For the past 20 years, Kathy has been working at the Coffee Shop in Cramerton part-time while her full-time job was a manager in the regional Coca-Cola corporate offices in Charlotte. It has always been her dream to have her bakery and be able to give back to the community. Pastry chef Kelsey Greene will be assisting Kathy in the new bakery.

Among the items offered at the bakery are cheese and specialty cakes, eclairs, muffins, cookies, and coffee. They will take both wholesale and retail orders. Print shops can be used for creating handouts and other materials with more details about offerings and pricing.

The bakery will be opened from Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
