Construction is about to get underway on the Center City Crossings project in downtown Gastonia.
The project is being developed by the Kuester Cos. and will consist of a building six stories tall with 90 apartments on West Main Avenue. The apartments will average 1,000 square feet in size and there will be apartments with one, two, and three bedrooms. The building will span a total of just over 120,000 square feet. Such projects often turn to flyer printing to provide more details about their units and amenities in an effort to garner interest. The cost of the project is $25m.
Faison Kuester, CEO of the Kuester Cos., said that his company has been pursuing this project since October 2020. He credits the city council and Walker Redi, the mayor of Gastonia, for their partnership and persistence with this project. Kuester said that he found a great need for housing in the area, particularly as his company enjoys working on downtown projects.
Currently the Franklin Urban Sports and Entertainment (FUSE) District in west Gastonia is the focus of activity in the downtown. It is built around the new CaroMont Health Park and the Gastonia Honey Hunters. Also part of FUSE is the Trenton Mill redevelopment project. The Center City Crossings project focuses more on the downtown and will bring more people to invest and live in downtown Gastonia.
