Holdup on DMV renewal stickers fixed

Gastonia residents awaiting the arrival of their DMV renewal stickers will be happy to know the delay issue has been resolved, although there are still reports of old stickers expiring before new ones arrive.

Those who renewed in person encountered no delays. Moreover, the offices of the DMV have numerous uses for the services of a printing company, and those who register in person are able to find printed information on a variety of subjects.

The turnaround time for those who mailed in their license tag sticker renewal form fell behind in mid-July due to the repeated malfunction of the machine that correlated vehicle registration information with Checks. According to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), issues with that machine have been resolved.

Three smaller machines were obtained to handle the volume of the large machine that kept breaking down. The original machine was only successfully able to handle a fraction of its normal daily output of 8,500 Checks for several weeks in July.

In those instances where new stickers are not received before the old ones have expired, Gastonia residents can rest assured that their updated information will be on the DMV’s computer, where law enforcement can accesses it. No citation for an expired registration should be issued due to the department falling behind.
