The city of Gastonia has been recognized as one of the Healthiest Employers of the Charlotte region for 2024.

This is a program that honors and awards organizations that place people first and prioritize the well-being of the employees in their cities. The goal of the program is to create a community invested in the well-being and health of their populations.

Local Print shops can help spread the word about such recognition with Flyers and other printed materials.

To apply for this recognition, companies in the city filled out an annual Healthiest Employers application. There are six categories in the assessment with responses that were short answer questions, multiple choice, and yes or no. Once these results are tallied, a Healthiest Employers Index is assigned to each application to rank the companies of similar sizes.

The program cited the city as being one that offers a wide variety of well-being services and programs through third parties. Atrium Health offers an onsite clinic that provides services such as labs, preventive and acute care, physicals, immunizations, and management of chronic disease. Significant gym membership discounts are also offered as well as mental health lectures, emotional and mental health support, and quarterly meetings onsite with a financial counselor. Many events are held by the city that include charity runs, community cleanups, and adult proms that promote social and community engagement.
