Covenant Village, a community for senior care in Gastonia that offers memory care, assisted living, and independent living, is planning an expansion that will update existing facilities and add cottages and apartments to the community.
News of such updates and additions is often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.
CEO of Covenant Village, Dale Melton, said that the master plan for the community is focused on current residents as well as those in the future. He said that the exteriors of the existing 42 duplex cottages will be updated with the replacement of siding and windows, repainting, and power washing of the sidewalks and driveways. Melton said this will give the cottages a complete refresh. In addition, the dining services will be updated with the creation of an open kitchen so that residents can view food preparation.
The expansion will be the construction of Stonecrest Villa which will add 21 new apartments. Melton said that there will be four floors of apartment units, below which will be a floor and a half of parking. There will also be 14 new single-family cottages built, the center of which will be a green space. Also to be built will be a covered outdoor pavilion for activities such as shuffleboard and cornhole.
The cost for the entire project is expected to be close to $54 million and will take 18 months to complete.
