First step taken for annual dancing event

Once again, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Gaston has got its plans underway for the annual Dancing for Future Stars event, which takes place each spring.

This year’s kickoff meeting for the 6th Dancing for Future Stars fundraiser was held here in Gastonia at the Gaston Country Club on October 23. Similar to the popular television show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, last year’s partnered professionals with local celebrities in a dancing competition, raising $300,000 in the process. Judging is based on both the amount of money the celebrity dancer has raised and the quality of their dance floor moves.

This event is the highest grossing single night fundraiser among North Carolina’s Boys & Girls Clubs. Participation in the event provides advertising for local businesses. This year will see eight local celebrity dancers, of which seven have been named. The eighth celeb, representing CaroMont Health, will be announced at a later date.

Poster printing services are able to assist in advertising the Dancing for Future Stars event, but equally important is their role in promoting the services that the Boys & Girls Club provides to the local community. The funds raised by the event have permitted the club to increase its membership over the last six years by 54%, making a jump from 700 to more than 1,400 members receiving life-changing services.
