The 5th annual Gastonia July 4th Festival is taking place next month in the downtown area.
Eight blocks of downtown will be blocked off to traffic to allow the public to fully enjoy the festival.
The day will start off with a flag raising and a salute to veterans. Live music will be provided by artists like Copper Line, Bobby Ray Bittle and Prison Song. There are set to be arts and craft street vendors, games, carnival rides, and games. Food vendors will also be selling a wide variety of dishes and beverages.
There are set to be hot dog, watermelon, and cherry pie eating contests which will take place at the Gastonia Rotary Centennial Pavilion between 12:30 and 2:00 PM. Competition is divided into two age categories, age 12-15, or 16 and over.
The festivities will come to an end with a fireworks display at 9:15 PM.
No doubt this annual event will bring out a lot of Gastonia residents to celebrate the 420th birthday of the United States. It is likely that Flyers will be produced to help remind people of the activities that will be taking place.
The Gastonia July 4th Festival will take place downtown on Main Street from S. York Street to Broad Street and along the side streets on July 4 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. To learn more, visit the official event website.
