Catawba Valley Community College and Gaston College have joined the Community College Collaboration Agreement of North Carolina (NC) State University. This will ensure that students from Gaston College will be admitted to NC State once certain requirements have been met. Students from Gastonia who attend the college and are interested in furthering the education will be most interested in this agreement.
Students need to complete an associates degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and dual enroll at NC State. Although students are guaranteed admission to the college there may be greater competition for certain majors. Students will have access to special services at NC State while attending Gaston College. Such services will include networking opportunities and advising. Other services and details about such programs can be provided with brochure printing.
Dr. John Hauser, president of Gaston College, said that this will be an important opportunity for current and future students. He expressed pride that everyone was able to work together to create this partnership which will help to create new opportunities for the workforce of the future.
Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Services at NC State, Dr. Don Hunt, agreed that everyone needs to work together to improve access for everyone. He added that this agreement supports that effort.
Students can begin applying to NC State beginning in the fall.
