Singles looking to change their status should head to the Carolinas – especially North Carolina – according to a recently released 2018 list of best metros for dating.
Around 11,000 singles were surveyed across the nation and the results put Madison, Wisconsin in the #1 slot followed by Charleston, South Carolina and Denver, Colorado. Three large North Carolina cities are on the list compiled by the online apartment rental site, Apartment List.
Over 56% of Raleigh’s survey respondents rated their dating opportunities as ‘satisfactory’, which was enough to put the city in the No. 5 spot among the 70 metros analyzed. Charlotte ranked No. 7, while here in Durham, the dating scene was No. 9 on the list.
A number of factors can account for those cities near the top of the list. Positive responses were highest for those with four-year degrees and higher (64), compared to those with lower levels of education (47). This might explain why Durham, Madison, and Raleigh – all cities with universities – rank so well.
It may also be a reflection of how well local organizations and businesses use printing services to promote singles’ events, which for bars can be a lucrative marketing strategy.
Overall, men who were surveyed reported being more satisfied at 46%, compared to 41% for women, with their dating opportunities.
