Line dancing event remains in good shape

The longest-running event of its kind, an All Line Dance Marathon, is taking place here in Durham, at the Sheridan Imperial Hotel next week.

This year's four-day marathon event was designed by Scott Blevins and Jean Garr, and sticks to the same successful format as the 2012 and 2013 events.

Four workshop rooms will be available, with more than 80 hours of instruction, provided at no extra charge, starting at 1:00 pm on the Thursday and concluding on at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Numerous international instructors are to be on hand and, on Thursday and Friday evenings, there are to be dance previews by the instructors.

A Roaring 20s dance party, where attendees are encouraged to arrive in attire relating to the decade, will take place on the Saturday evening, with a prize presented for best costume. On the last day of the event, an amateur choreography competition is to be held. An extra fee will be required for those competing, but attendees can observe the competition for free.

Large events usually require plenty of prior notice so that attendees will have ample time to make arrangements. The use of a banner printing service can both build excitement and give potential attendees the necessary lead time to plan their attendance.

This year's Line Dance Marathon runs from Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1.
