The Durham Ballet Theatre is presenting a show called Annual Invited Audiences.
Durham Ballet Theatre has (DBT) announced a sensory-friendly performance showcasing excerpts from storybook ballets such as Cinderella, Aladdin, and Peter Pan. This performance is designed to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming audiences of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. This includes individuals with physical disabilities, cognitive and developmental disabilities, and those from group homes and hospitals, along with their families and caregivers. Act 1 of the performance will showcase pieces from four full-length story ballets: Aladdin, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid. These selections will encompass ballet, aerial, and modern dance.
In Act 2, there will be a selection of pieces from the Classical Ballet and Contemporary repertoire, featuring four professional dancers. Among them are renowned artists who have previously graced the DBT stage, including and Lilit Hogtanian from the Slovak National Theatre Ballet and George Sanders representing the Twyla Tharp company. Jared Brunson from Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Marzia Memoli from the Martha Graham Company will be making their debut performance with DBT.
The show is scheduled for May 19 and it will be at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. Seating for the performance will commence at 6:00 PM. General admission seating is limited to 500 spaces, with an additional 20 spaces reserved for wheelchair seating.
