Clinton hosts Christmas city celebration
Christmas in the City will return to downtown Clinton this December.
A holiday-themed carousel, gingerbread-decorating and live Christmas music and entertainment are all part of the festivities, thanks in part to partnerships with Sampson County, the Sampson Arts Council and the Sampson County History Museum.
The History Museum, which was founded in 1997, encompasses 11 different museum buildings in a two-acre lot behind the main headquarters, a two-story building from 1903. The museum, located in the downtown area and included as part of the holiday festivities, has thousands of artifacts on display, including a gas pump from the early 20th century and an outhouse from more than 70 years ago. There’s also a circa-1750 cabin, one of North Carolina’s oldest buildings.
The Sampson Arts Council, another partner in the Christmas in the City event, was founded in 1973 with a history of serving its community. They are headquartered in the Victor R. Small House, with arts activities being held there.
A community tree lighting rings in the holiday season during the event, with various antiquated modes of transport on offer to solidify the tradition, including a downtown train ride, hay ride, and carriages.
Holiday celebrations like this may choose to use printing services for creating ornament templates, instructional sheets for craft activities or schedules.
The Christmas in the City 2025 event is happening on December 4 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Clinton and surrounding areas. The Christmas Carousel will also continue to be in operation on December 5-6.
