A 5K run/walk and half-marathon is happening in Clinton in the coming weeks.
Hosted by the local gym CrossFit864, the 16th annual event honors the tradition of racing and includes community celebrations.
With a focus on fitness and goalsetting in a supportive environment, the event invites seasoned athletes and beginners alike, with various self-determined difficulty levels to choose from. Regardless of the challenge level, all runners will be cheered on by spectators and encouraged by fellow athletes and volunteers. The scenic route offers segments through both wooded and urban areas, and finisher medals and race shirts customized to each participant will also be available to runners.
The half-marathon route includes a running path along East Main Street, Springdale Drive, Highway 56 South, Green Plain Road, Chestnut Street, Walnut Street, and South Adair Street. The 5K traces a shorter segment down the same route, near the beginning of the course, and back to the starting area.
The entry fee for each event is $30 for the 5K and $50 for the half-marathon, with registration available online up until the night before the race.
