Local band with 50-year legacy performs in Clinton

Clinton will host one of the region’s longest-standing local bands when The Band of Oz takes the stage at the Clinton City Market downtown this September.

The band consists of eight members, including a full horn section.

After first forming in the late 1960s, The Band of Oz went full-time as on-the-road performers 1997. Now they play at everything from prestigious clubs, festivals, corporate events, weddings, and a myriad of other public and private concerts. They perform over 200 shows per year, in the greater Southeast region, including in North and South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.

The band members include vocalist and guitarist Chris Jennings, Vocalist Dustin Ahkuoi, vocalist and trumpeter Doug Winstead, vocalist and keyboardist Jody Bundy, vocalist and saxophonist Daniel Morris, vocalist and trumpeter Chuck French, drummer David Hicks and guitarist and bass guitarist Keith Houston.

The Band of Oz’s stop in Clinton comes on the heels of a number of other performances on their 2025 tour, including in North Carolina’s Holden Beach, Mt. Airy, Garner, TroyShallotte, Matthews, Greenville and in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The Band of Oz performs on September 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Clinton City Market a Courthouse Square in downtown Clinton.
