Unique class to combine animals and exercise

The owner of a business focused on wellness and relaxation will be hosting a workout with a unique twist in early June, which is sure to be fun for Rochester residents.

The Wellness Series: Tai Chi And Goats combines the practice of the meditation often referred to as “Chinese Yoga” with the joy of interacting with the small yet mighty farm animals. While tai chi is not always thought of as a workout, the slower pace of the movements allows for those with a lower stamina to start to build up to more strenuous activities.

Shanna McCann owns the property being used for this activity. As a part of the experience, she will be sharing various tidbits of knowledge she has about her goats while the attendees are spending time with them, or giving them treats.

Deah Kinion has over four decades’ experience performing tai chi ever and will be leading the main portion of the event. Due to the lesson being done outside and on a farm, guests are asked to wear appropriate clothing and shoes that they are not worried about. A towel or yoga mat, water, bug spray, and sunscreen are also required. If there is any issue with the weather, the group will be moved into the barn, going to the upper floor. Flyer printing is often performed when promoting group activities like this.

Tickets are $30 online through Eventbrite, and $35 on the day. The tai chi will run for about an hour, with the goat time lasting another half hour afterwards. The location is Simple Soaps for Simple Folks Events and Retreat, which is in Byron. The class is set to run from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Sunday, June 5.
