Rochester celebrates popular hobby

A late January event is taking place over several days to highlight an exciting pastime amongst a Rochester crowd.

Castle Con is an experience that has a focus on tabletop games (ttgs). The genre has massively expanded over the years, but popular examples include titles like Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer 40k, and Magic The Gathering.

No matter the level of familiarity with ttgs, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Guests can play old favorites, explore new titles, and shop from an array of vendors.

There will be tournaments for a number of games held at the event, as well as more casual sessions. In some cases, there will be a session where a volunteer teaches a group how to play a particular title.

In addition to the vendors, people behind games which are still being worked on will be present to build excitement and gain feedback for their projects.

Tickets are available through a link on the Game Haven website. A pass for all four days is priced at $30. Friday and Saturday are $20. Students who provide their ID can get a special $15 price. Thursday and Sunday are $10. Children up to age 13 get free entry.

The venues are the Kahler Grand Hotel and the Historic Chateau Theatre. Many vendors at similar events will bring Promotional Products to pass out to guests, as a way to make them more memorable. The event will be open between 12:00pm and 8:00pm on January 22nd, 9:00am and 10:00pm on January 23rd and 24th, and 9:00am and 6:00pm on January 25th.
