The Augsburg Physician Associate Program is hosting its annual Miles that Matter 5k fundraiser here in Minneapolis toward the end of April.
The family-friendly 5k course will be a clockwise loop on sidewalks around Bde Maka Ska Lake giving the runners views of parkland, the lakeshore and Minneapolis skyline. Water stations will be located mid-course and at the finish line, and there will be port-a-potties and first-aid stations available along the course. Water and snacks will be available at the finish line.
Timing will not be chip-based and a race clock situated at the finish line will be available for racers to track their own times.
Registration will be $35 for general admission, $25 for students and children under the age of 12 may participate for free. Although strollers will be allowed, pets are not, due to crowd size.
Swag will include event t-shirts for all participants and aluminum water bottles to the first 70 to register.
Large running events like this often get their event shirts printed at local Print shops.
The event will take place rain or shine unless there is severe weather or lightning.
Proceeds will go to the International Institute of Minnesota, a century-old a non-profit aiding refugees from more than 110 countries from first-day arrival to long-term employment. Its programs range for resettlement, legal services, English language classes, job training, humanitarian services and family safety resources.
The Miles that Matter 5k will be April 25th at Thomas Beach, 3700 Thomas Avenue starting at 10:00 am.
