Minneapolis runs Fire and Ice event

Many of those here in Minneapolis who enjoy the Minnesota winter weather or just want a challenge will be heading to the Fire and Ice Winter Walk & Run coming toward the end of January.

The run will be part of the 140th Winter Carnival and will include a 20k, 15k, 10k, 5k and a Kid's Run - all on a loop course through the fairgrounds. The route for the 5k will be one loop, 10k 2 loops, 15k 3 loops and 20k 4 loops.

Registration for each race will be $44.79 until January 25th when it will go up to $60.83. Those who want the swag and not the sweat may register for the No K (where you do not run but get all the 'stuff') for same prices as the participants, receive a long-sleeved event shirt and 2026 Winter Carnival button, but not run. The Kid's Run will cost $35, and swag will be beanies.

Organizers of large races like this often use local Print shops to imprint event paper products and race shirts with the event's graphic or Logo Design.

The Kid's Run will begin at 8:45 am followed by the 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k races beginning at 9:00 am. At 9:05 am, those that opted for the No K may walk out to the starting line, cross it, and step back over the finish line.

The 2026 Fire & Ice Winter Walk & Run will take place January 25th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, 1265 Snelling Avenue N., St. Paul.
