Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association will be holding its annual Art-A-Whirl for three days in mid-May.
The free festivities will be in the Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood art galleries, local businesses, studio buildings, and home storefronts. More than 800 artists will be at 60 locations displaying and selling their work. Guests can see local galleries, private artist studios, demonstrations, special exhibits, and installations.
Art demonstrations will include watercolor effects, a watercolor demonstration using a credit card, encaustic painting with fire and wax, and a circular hand-cranked sock knitting machine.
Try Soft Pastels will be a make-and-take mini-workshop where guests may relax and experiment with soft pastels on paper. Easels, stools, and gloves will be provided. Admission will be $15 to cover expenses. This activity will be in the Thorp Building – 1620-228, 1618 Northeast Central Avenue. Some other mini-workshops will be Power of Place Box and Tiny Print Parade.
On May 15, Transition Plus School at 2015 E. Lake Street will hold its annual Student Art Sale Extravaganza. Here, more than 60 students with disabilities will be displaying and selling their original artwork. The venue will also offer live art demonstrations, nail and face painting, and used bike, flowers, and plant sales. The mosaic tile mural the students have been working on will be revealed at 1:15 pm.
Art-a-Whirl will take place May 15 through 17. Organizers of art events like this often get some poster printing done beforehand and put Posters around town.Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Print
