Two 5k races are being planned for Minneapolis in June.
The first 5k will be the 21st Annual Vivie 5k/10k /Walk and Run. The event will be a fundraiser for the Vivie Foundation for programs that encourage lifelong learning for older citizens.
Registration will be $45 for the Walk/Run, and $50 for the 10k Run. Awards will go to the top male and female finishers in each age division.
Check-in and registration for the race will begin at 8:00 am. A pre-race stretch will be at 8:50 am with the 10k beginning at 9:00 am and the 5k beginning at 9:05 am.
The 21st Annual Vivie 5k/10k /Walk and Run will be held at the Lake Harriet Bandshell, 4135 W Lake Harriet Parkway on Saturday, June 6.
Registration for the Surly Brewing Company 5k Fun Run will be $46.86 without an event shirt and $70.38 with a t-shirt.
Waves will begin at 10:45 am, 11:00 am and 11:15 am, and the route will be a loop around the park. Post race activities will include a food truck, music, sponsor booths and games.
The run will take place rain or shine, all ages are welcome, and strollers and dogs will be allowed.
The run will begin and end at the Surly Brewing Company, 520 Malcolm Avenue, SE.
Organizers of runs like these often go to local Print shops to have their event shirts and paper items printed with the event logo.
