Minneapolis supports 5k memorial race
Many runners here in Minneapolis and those who enjoy a long walk will be interested in attending the final Finish the Run coming in early September.
Finish the Run has been organized in memory of David Forster, a local elite Minneapolis runner who died unexpectedly back in 2016.
This 10th annual Finish the Run will be the final one, so everybody is invited to run/walk the 5k or participate in the 2k walk for the last time. Although the Stone Arch Bridge is finally open, the Plymouth Avenue Bridge will be closed so the routes have been moved to Boom Island Park. As always, strollers and pets are welcome.
Since this will be the first time using the park's paths and trails, there will be many volunteers to direct runners and walkers.
Registration for the 5k will be $40 and $40 also for the 2-mile walk. Swag will include event t-shirts, beverages, food at the finish line, and partying before, during and after. HeadFlyer Brewing, 861 E. Hennepin Avenue, will hold the after party, and runners/walkers can enjoy watching football and receiving $1 discounts on their first beer.
Supporters of memorial runs often have flyer printing created at local print shops to get the word out.
The 10th and final Finish the Run will take place September 9th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in Northeast Minneapolis Boom Island Park.
