Minneapolis celebrates museum's 50th birthday

Minneapolis's Bakken Museum is turning 50 years old this year and will be celebrating with three events coming in mid-October.

Its Brilliant at 50 Gala will feature two complimentary drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a full bar. A live auction will take place during the evening and there will be a Special 50 Innovators announcement. Valet parking will be free. Cocktail attire is recommended. Admission will be $150 per person.

Brilliant at 50 will take place at the Grain Belt Brewery, 1220 Marshall St. NE, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Friday, October 10th.

The next day, Saturday, October 11th, the museum will eliminate admission fees for the museum and grounds, so all ages may explore the grounds, and exhibits, view Lake Bde Maka Ska, and enjoy fun activities.

Another Bakken Turns 50 event will take place on Sunday, October 12th, with the first Minnesota STEM Book Fest. This will be where literature and science meet with author panel discussions on AI, nature, health science, women in science and pop culture. Although museum admission will be free, tickets be $10 per discussion. Other experiences will include interactive activities, author meet and greets, and toys and Books for purchase.

The museum at 3537 Zenith Avenue S will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm both days.
