The 4th of July is just around the corner and Minneapolis fireworks will be exploding over the Mississippi River. There are eight locations where visitors can get good views.
For many enthusiasts, the Stone Arch Bridge is the best place to view the fireworks. When on the bridge, viewers are situated above the river and below the pyrotechnics. Other bridges that offer good viewing are the Guthrie Endless Bridge and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. Here, once again, viewers are off the ground and nearer the action. These are probably the best locations to get good pictures for later poster printing.
Restaurant rooftops give good views also. Many are currently making reservations at their favorite haunts so they can wine and dine while enjoying the proceedings.
Many Minneapolis residents will be toting blankets and heading for Nicollet Island situated between northeast Minneapolis and Downtown, directly under the Hennepin Avenue Bridge. The green area has a picnic area, walking paths, and a garden that will make for diversions before the evening’s main event.
For lovers of nature, Gold Medal Park in downtown Minneapolis is likely to be a good choice. Viewers can bring blankets to lie on the grass, balls for tossing around, and bug spray. Lake Calhoun will offer a more traditional atmosphere as families will be lying on the beach, grilling out, paddling on the lake and playing volleyball.
Minneapolis’ 4th of July fireworks will begin at 10:00 pm on July 4 itself.
