Pickleball enthusiasts should note that Grand Rapids will host the Lakes and Loons Pickleball Classic in September.
Proceeds raised from tournament registration fees will go towards supporting the Itasca County Pickleball Association (ICPA) and the Itasca County Family YMCA. The ICPA’s mission is to promote the sport of pickleball in the local area, maintain pickball courts and equipment, and encourage good sportsmanship and collaboration between players.
The tournament will take place over two days and will consist of both men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Participants will be divided into two age groups, one group being 60 and up and the other being 59 and below. Gameplay will be in round robin format with an elimination round at the end. All teams will play at least four games. Games officials will retain the right to combine or otherwise modify age groups and levels depending on registration numbers.
Registration fees include a special tournament T-shirt with the event Logo Design detailed on it. Both event fees and service fees will also be charged accordingly. There will be no refunds issued in the event of a delay or cancellation of the tournament.
The pickleball classic is slated for September 7 and September 8. It will take place at the Outdoor Courts (ODC) at Itasca County Family YMCA, located at 400 River Road. Registration fee is $20.
