Saginaw Art Museum is hosting four free art workshops this April.
Spring Break Art Days are drop-in classes focusing on different media and techniques. The first class will be Crocheting for Beginners on Wednesday, April 1. Participants will learn the basics of crocheting a chain. On Thursday, April 2, the Scrape Art session will allow participants to create abstract pieces with acrylic paint using the museum’s temporary exhibit, It’s All Connected by Mark Piotrowski, as inspiration.
On Friday, April 3, Mark Dewolf-Ott will demonstrate origami. Dewolf-Ott is a self-taught paper folder who has been sharing his experience with Saginaw groups for more than 40 years. Finally, Saturday, April 4’s Drawing Portraits class does not require museum admission and is inspired by The Price of the Ticket exhibit by Richard Lewis. It will focus on specific instructions for creating realistic facial proportions.
Classes are free to attend, but the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday sessions will take place during museum hours and require museum admission. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for members and those 15 and younger. Classes are open to participants of all ages and skill levels. Museums often use flyer printing services to promote their special events.
Spring Break Art Days will take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on all four days at Saginaw Art Museum and Gardens.
