Saginaw arts group to celebrate art and flowers

The Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission is hosting its 21st annual Art & Garden Festival this June.

The free festival will feature more than 45 vendors, raffles, food trucks and a silent auction. The date is chosen to coincide with the first rose blooms of the season.

Vendors will offer a selection of artwork and garden items. Artists will be selling pottery, jewelry, painted glass, and other original pieces. Plant vendors will have ferns and native perennials, as well as garden items. Vendors often use banner printing services to display their business names at this type of event.

Lunch and sweets will be available, and attendees can purchase fresh strawberry shortcake. Silent auction items will include home and garden decorations, gift cards, plants, and art. All items are donated by vendors and sponsors, and proceeds will support the maintenance of the Lucille E. Andersen Memorial Rose Garden.

Lucille Andersen was a nursing instructor before becoming vice president of her husband’s sand and gravel company. She was an avid gardener and was involved in many civic organizations in Saginaw. The Andersen Enrichment Center, which is home to the Arts and Enrichment Commission, is named for her philanthropist husband.

The Art & Garden Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Andersen Enrichment Center and Memorial Rose Garden.
