The Saginaw Art Museum is hosting an opening reception for a new exhibit this January.
Remnants, Remnants, Remnants will feature paper and panel work from Michigan-based artist Grant M. Brownlow. The art reflects Brownlow’s thoughts on Michigan’s industrial and manufacturing history along with its post-industrial present. This includes how he feels the effects of the region’s history on daily life as well as explorations of identity, class and self-destructive cultural tendencies. The collection looks at spaces like partially abandoned warehouses and industrial facilities like factories and auto shops, and it combines images in a collage-like style.
The exhibit will be open from January 16 through April 26. The museum is open from 12 pm to 5 pm, Wednesday through Saturday, and admission costs $7 per adult. Student and senior tickets cost $5. Admission is free for museum members, active duty military and kids 15 and under, and for everyone on Saturdays.
The opening reception is free, but those planning to attend are asked to sign up in advance. The artist will also be giving a talk on February 1. Those interested can register using the same online form. Museums often use poster printing services to promote their special exhibits.
The Remnants, Remnants, Remnants opening reception will take place on Thursday, January 16 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
