The 19th Annual Pigtown Festival will be returning toward the end of September. Thousands are expected to attend the family-friendly event to celebrate the neighborhood’s history and unique character.
Glen Burnie attendees can dance to the live music of Rufus Roundtree & Da B’More Brass Factory, join in the Pigtown shuffle and sing the Pigtown Anthem.
Kids can enjoy the KidZone featuring baseball tossing, hat making and the traditional “Squeakness” live pig races.
Artisans and crafters will be selling their original works. Many will probably bring Business Cards with them if anyone wishes to get in contact with them later for more items or custom work.
Non-profits, businesses and political and government agencies will also be onsite passing out information on their missions, goods and services. Businesses that frequent events like this often hand out promotional items such as promotional Pens, Mugs and visors.
Pigtown once known as Washington Village is a unique area on the southwest corner of Downtown Baltimore. Close to the B&O Railroad Museum, Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor, it got its name from the 1850s when Midwest cargo cars would unload pigs on the local platform and the pigs would then meander through the neighborhood.
The free 19th annual Pigtown Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 25th from noon until 7:00 pm along Pigtown’s main street at 763 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore.
