Locals to raid their attics as antiques event approaches

Glen Burnie locals will very soon have an opportunity to have their antiques and other odds and ends appraised by a local professional appraiser at the local library.

Todd Peenstra, a professional appraiser and owner of an Annapolis-based appraisal company, will be offering his services free of charge to anyone who wishes to have their prized possessions given the once over. Possible items can include antiques, jewelry, and fine art, or anything an owner believes has an intrinsic value beyond a normal purchase price. This can also include unique items such as musical instruments that were owned by someone famous, clocks, or rare comic Books. Appraisals can be used to ascertain possible sale price, for insurance purposes, or for estate planning.

Peenstra has more than 20 years of experience in appraising and has served as a museum curator. Some may wish to attend simply to watch the proceedings, as the format will be similar to that shown on the PBS show ‘Antiques Roadshow’.

Those planning to attend may wish to update their digital Business Cards for sharing either with Peenstra or others in attendance.

The appraisal will be held tomorrow, January 23, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Glen Burnie Regional Library, 1010 Eastway, Glen Burnie. Those wishing to have items appraised can register for the event to ensure their place in line. Items that are too big to carry in can be appraised by bringing a photograph instead.
