The 41st annual Baltimore Washington One Carnival, a two-day Trinidad-style street event, will be returning to Baltimore in early July.
Festivities will begin with the 1¼-mile Parade of Bands. This four-hour spectacle will feature 14 masquerade bands including Bmore Camo Posse, Color Me Krazy, Karib Mas, US Paddle Band, and Zandolee Paint & Powder. Each band will have its own sound system blasting out calypso and reggae Caribbean music, and will include a coordinated group of elaborately costumed revelers. Other community-based steel pan bands, dancing stilt walkers and round out the street entertainment.
Bands in the parade will be judged on costume design, creativity, masqueraders’ participation, and energy. The parade route will start at E. 33rd Street and Ellerslie Avenue and end in Clifton Park on St. Lo Drive.
The festival will be held during and after the parade. Along with Caribbean food there will be live music performed by international stars Problem Child and Shurwayne Winchester, Caribbean Soca Divas, and local talent. Glen Burnie fans of artists like these often go to official websites and purchase merchandise featuring their Logo Design to wear at the concerts.
The parade will begin Saturday, July 9 at 1:00 pm and end around 5:00 pm. The festival in total will run from noon to 10:00 pm on Saturday, July 9, and noon to 9:00 pm on Sunday, July 10 at Clifton Park, 2801 St. Lo Drive, Baltimore.
