Legendary female vocalists celebrated near Crofton

Ladies in the Day, a salute to past female singers and entertainers, will come to the stage next month near Crofton.

Presented by the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, the live performance will be a unique historical tribute to some of the most talented and influential females. Many artists will be featured, including four fan favorites.

Ella Fitzgerald was a writer, composer and jazz artist known for her pure voice and ability to improvise, especially when singing scat. Etta James was a multi-genre singer who often performed in R&B clubs in Nashville and was known for such hits as Something’s Got A Hold on Me.

The music of Grammy Award-winning jazz and swing artist Billie Holiday will also be featured, along with memories of Lena Horn, who was not only a singer but also a dancer, actress, and civil rights activist.

Ladies in the Day will feature a cast of talented singers who will take the audience back in time. Both general admission and balcony seat tickets are available for the musical tribute. Theaters and other facilities that present shows such as this often use local Print shops for their programs, tickets, and other printed materials.

Ladies in the Day will be presented on Saturday, February 8 at 3:00 pm at the Bowie Center, 15200 Annapolis Road, just south of Crofton.
