Beloved musical to entertain audiences near Crofton

Oklahoma, one of the first true musicals, will come to the stage as a concert next month in Annapolis, near Crofton.

Presented by Live Arts Maryland, Pop Concert 1 - Oklahoma is a production featuring music by the 150-member Annapolis Chorale and the resident Chamber Orchestra. Ensemble members come from Anne Arundel and neighbouring counties in the state.

Creative arts groups that present live performances such as this often use poster printing to advertise their upcoming shows.

Not only the earliest production to blend story, dance and music, Oklahoma was also the first collaboration in a musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Broadway production premiered in 1943 and was a huge theatrical success, running for over 2,200 performances.

More than 80 years later, the upcoming concert will feature the show’s favourite songs, including Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ and the musical's title song.

The Pops concert will take place at the Maryland Hall, an art, culture, recreation, and educational facility housed in an historic 1932 former school building. The center offers classes, hosts art installations and workshops, and presents music, theater, and dance performances.

Oklahoma will be presented on November 13 and 14 at 7:30 pm in the Main Theater at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. Tickets can be purchased online on the Live Arts Maryland website.
