The first winter farmers’ market at Crofton, which has been providing fresh produce for Crofton residents over the winter months, wraps up next month.
Providing goods from over 40 participating vendors, it is the largest market in Anne Arundel County, selling vegetables, fruits, meats, milk, dairy products, and bread. It also has vendors offering flowers and craft items, as well as produce from organic growers. Food trucks at the venue serve treats, and shoppers can order items online and pick them up at the market.
This April marks the end of the season for the winter market. Residents who are interested can stock up on their favorite foods by visiting the market on the first and third Saturday in the month. The produce available can be used to prepare healthy and wholesome meals.
Locally produced food offers higher nutrient content because the food does not have to be transported over long distances, and since the vendors are often from the community, customers are aware of where their food came from. This is an opportunity to support local vendors and businesses, and vendors at such markets often give out Business Cards to help customers to remember their business.
The market will be held on April 3 and April 17 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
