Flags to honor servicepeople in Crofton
Veterans and first responders will receive special recognition in Crofton for two weeks next month.
The Flags for Heroes program returns to the community courtesy of the members of the Crofton Kiwanis Club and Foundation, which partners with the Crofton Civic Association to present the display on the days surrounding Veterans Day. Organizers of events such as this often use professional graphic design to create a powerful online image.
Flags will be planted on Route 3 near the Lake Louise neighborhood in what has become a patriotic tradition in support of those who served in the military. Organizations, groups and individuals can sponsor a flag and can also choose to add a name to the flagpole to recognize a specific veteran or first responder they wish to honor.
It costs $50 to sponsor a flag and an additional name tag is $5.95, with all proceeds going towards charitable projects supported by the Kiwanis Club.
The service club concentrates on programs that benefit children and families, as well as those that enhance the community as a whole. The Flags for Heroes display is just one of a number of Kiwanis fundraising events that allow the club to be a regular contributor to numerous area charitable organizations.
Flags for Heroes will be on display from November 2 to 16, and could include as many as 100 American flags. For those who wish to recognize service men and women, sponsorship information is available on the Crofton Kiwanis Club website.
