Crofton to gain local NPSL team to root for

Next year, Crofton residents will have only a short drive to attend National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) games as it has been announced that the city of Annapolis will be fielding its own team in 2023.

The club will be owned by Michael Hitchcock, Alex Yi and Kyle Beckerman with Hitchcock also doubling as managing partner. Hitchcock has had an active ownership role in five NPSL teams.

Yi, an experienced midfielder and defender played for the Belgian Jupiter League’s Antwerp FC, a Manchester United feeder club. He then played for FC Dallas for three seasons.

Yi’s Maryland roots run deep. He was a student at The Country School in Easton, Georgetown Prep as a freshman, and then attended McDonogh High School, which is located in Owings Mills.

Professional sports teams usually turn to printing services to provide promotional attire for their fans to purchase.

A native of Crofton, Beckerman is a former Major League Soccer (MLS) player and also played for the U.S. Men’s National Team. He is a nine-times All-Star and the recipient of the 2009 MLS Cup. Beckerman is currently head coach of Utah Valley University men’s soccer program.

Fans will have the opportunity to decide the name and Logo Design of the newly formed NPSL team by voting throughout the summer at community events. Four brands will be available from which fans can select their favorite either in person or online.
