Crofton resident's family fundraises for lung transplant

Following a recent cystic fibrosis diagnosis, a Crofton resident's family and friends are trying to raise $80,000 to cover the cost of the treatment.

37 year old Lynne Heisey Korlewitz was diagnosed with this disease during her infanthood. Though she led a normal life throughout her adolescent years, with age her condition has worsened and Lynne is now in need of a lung transplant.

To aid the family, Children's Organ Transplant Association, a national charity which organizes and guides local communities in their efforts to raise funds for expenses associated with transplants, is assisting.

Though the medical bills are been taken care by the health insurance, the cost of treatment still needs to be arranged and to do so, the Children's Organ Transplant Association is assisting the family in planning a number of fundraising events in the Crofton community as well as the Lebanon and Lancaster counties. Poster and flyer printing are typical activities used to help fundraising efforts and promote local events.

Lynne's sister Anne Brubaker is acting as community coordinator has already organized two events at Isaac's restaurants.

Between 5 and 9 P.M on April 14, the Isaac's restaurant in Lititz will donate 25 percent of their profits from meals to the cause.

Between 5 and 9 P.M on April 28, Isaac's in Wyomissing will contribute the same amount.

The family also plans to hold an online fundraiser on April 20 along with Pampered Chef. For further information about this fundraiser and other fundraising efforts, Lynne's website is available at cotaforlynnek.com.

With just over $16,000 collected so far, there is still a long way to go but these events are seen as a leap of faith to gather the required amount with the help of people in the local area.
