County announces clinics to receive COVID-19 booster shots

An announcement has been made by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health stating that a number of clinics would be making the third dose, or booster shot, of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines available.

A recommendation by the CDC is for those “moderately to severely immunocompromised,” such as those having experienced organ transplants and cancer patients undergoing immunity damaging treatments, to obtain a booster shot due to their increased vulnerability to COVID-19. Also included in the CDC’s recommendations are those taking immune system suppressing medications, which would include people who have had a stem cell transplant during the past two years and those with an HIV infection, among others.

Reminding the public about specific details of a government program often involves the assistance of a poster printing service.

Crofton residents can make an appointment for the booster shot online at the Anne Arundel County Department of Health website or by calling 410-222-7256. It has been suggested by officials that residents consult with their primary healthcare provider to determine their eligibility to get a third dose.

According to health department officials the booster shots might be made available at local retail stores and pharmacies.

The Biden administration, as reported from multiply sources, is anticipated to recommend that citizens wait eight months following their second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine shot to receive their booster.
