A giant holiday tree will be lit next month to mark the start of the holiday season. Crofton residents often travel to the Grand Illumination and Tree Lighting in the state capital each year.
The special holiday event is held each year on the Sunday following Thanksgiving.
Crofton residents who attend the upcoming light-up will also enjoy an afternoon schedule of entertainment and music on stage near the downtown Market House.
First to perform will be Naptown Sings, an area music school that provides lessons and classes for all ages, including glee clubs for singers ages 4-18.
Other performers include members of Talent Machine, a children’s musical theater company for budding young stars that produces three musicals each year. Plus, there will be a featured performance by the Chesapeake Ballet, a children’s troupe that will present a mini-preview of its 20th anniversary production of The Nutcracker.
The Grand Illumination and Tree Lighting is made possible by a number of local sponsors. Businesses who get involved in community events such as this often use flyer printing to advertise their products and services.
The festivities take place in Annapolis on December 1, 2024 beginning at 4 pm. The tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus is set for 5:15 pm. Further information, including details on downtown street closures is available online.
