Camp to teach Crofton kids how to be Youtube stars

Pongos Interactive is conducting a summer camp where children aged 4 to 14 will learn animation and video production skills. By the end of the camp, kids will have made an animation and a walkthrough video.

Kids will also learn tips to keep themselves safe while using the internet. The camp will focus on taking children through the entire process from planning their videos, storyboarding, recording, editing, filming animations and moving the created videos to YouTube.

The videos will be uploaded to the Coder Kids Club YouTube channel. If they prefer, for the walkthrough videos, kids can use their own Minecraft or Roblox accounts. After one video is complete, the remaining portion of the videos will be done without computers where they complete activities such as challenges, music videos and interview their classmate.

At every class, the children must bring their own clearly-labelled USB headset with a microphone. Children work in groups depending on their age and experience. Every day, children must bring their nut-free lunch and snacks, water and headphones. Such events are usually promoted by flyer printing and distribution.

The camp will be held from July 19 to July 23 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. At an extra charge, parents can avail child-care before and after the camp. The camp is at Pongos Interactive at Priest Drive Bridge, Suite 8, Crofton.
