Blood drive planned in Crofton

The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce is organizing a blood donation drive this summer. Healthy donors can register online to safely donate blood.

On average, up to 3,000 patients at the Anne Arundel Medical Center require blood transfusions to save their lives. Each pint of blood received can save up to three patients. All blood collected at this blood drive will be donated to the Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Donors from 17 to 74 years of age can donate blood at this drive, although 16-year-olds can donate if they have consent from their parents. One week before the drive, donors are advised to begin consuming iron-rich foods such as red meat, poultry, pork, spinach, broccoli, and iron-fortified cereals, breads, and pasta. Donors should be healthy and weigh more than 110lbs. Most medications do not deter people from donating blood, but it is advisable to ask a doctor about any concerns or questions related to specific health conditions.

Mia Anderson from PenFed Realty is the main sponsor for this event. Donors can select a 15-minute slot to sign up. Information about blood donation drives is usually circulated by using flyer printing.

The blood donation drive will be held on June 10 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at 2126 Espey Court. More information is available on the Crofton Chamber of Commerce website.
