Marlborough to become home to new lab
A state-of-the-art laboratory for analyzing evidence from crime scenes will be developed in Marlborough thanks to the Massachusetts State Police and the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance.
The Commonwealth will lease the new facility which will be developed by Greatland Realty Partners and supported by an experienced construction and design team that will create a future-ready and cutting edge space. The facility will span 200,000 square feet and be on Martinangelo Drive.
Such sites can benefit from banner printing so that residents and visitors can stay informed about such projects and their progress.
The lease will enable the state police to have a facility that is very much needed faster than if carried out through public construction and capital borrowing. The current crime labs in Sudbury and Maynard will be consolidated into the new facility. It will be able to accommodate over 250 people and will have room to grow in the future.
The site in Marlborough was selected for its proximity to major highways, accessibility, and ability to support additional economic development that will benefit both the city and the surrounding communities. The building will also comply with the latest energy codes in the Commonwealth and meet LEED Silver standards.
Construction is scheduled to begin early next year and the plan is to open the building in the first quarter of 2028.
