DeFalco expressed his gratitude and anticipation about his transition to the Marlborough Public Schools. He said:
“Over the past seven years, it has been an extraordinary privilege to serve the students, staff, families and communities of BMR. Together, we have built deep and meaningful relationships, faced challenges with resilience and celebrated countless achievements. Charger Nation will always hold a very special place in my heart.”
DeFalco praised the string foundation of community engagement, innovation, and excellence in the Marlborough schools and said he is looking forward to working with the school community to ensure its success.
A search had been conducted by the School Committee and had decided on two finalists. At its meeting in March, it was voted not to offer the position to either of them. It had voted to conduct a new search but determined that there would not be sufficient time to find a permanent superintendent so decided to hire an interim one.
Prior to working at Blackstone-Millville, DeFalco was the chief academic officer and deputy superintendent for the New Bedford Public Schools. He will start his position on July 1.
