The Summer Internship program of Mayor J. Christian Dumais of Marlborough will be returning this summer.
The program is designed to provide people of college age with meaningful, hands on experience working within a municipal government. Participants work 25 hours per week from June through August in a city department, collaborating directly with a department head or staff member on real projects and daily operations. Eligibility includes anyone of college age—recent high school graduates, current college students, individuals already in the workforce, or those taking a gap year—creating an accessible pathway to explore public sector careers.
Among the fields available for an internship are Public Health, Economic Development, Information Technology, City Records/Election Management, and Engineering and Urban Planning. More details about such internships and eligibility can be provided with flyer printing.
An online application needs to be filled out and this should include a cover letter, resumé, and one reference letter. A staff member will contact each applicant to schedule an interview on Microsoft Teams once an application is received, and this will take place in May. Preference for these internships will be given to residents of Marlborough. Participants need to be available for the dates of interviews, orientation, and the dates of the program itself. The current minimum wage of $15 per hour will be given to participants.
