Over $100,000 in state workforce training grants will be awarded to two companies in Marlborough as part of a new round of the administration of Healey and Driscoll.
Ruland Manufacturing was awarded $103,200 to train 65 workers and Main Street Bank was awarded $103,800 to train 141 workers. The investment in training es expected to add seven jobs by 2028.
News of such grants and their benefits for workers and the economy can be disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.
Personal and business banking services are provided by Main Street Bank, a community bank that serve those throughout Eastern and Central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Precision shaft collars and couplings are produced by Ruland Manufacturing, and these products are used in industries including industrial automation, medical devices, and robotics. Both companies are based in Marlborough.
This grant comes from a $17.9 million Workforce Training Fund Program initiative that has supported 1,255 businesses in Massachusetts in upskilling, training, and retaining workers. The funded companies anticipate adding over 1,000 new jobs across the state in the next two years. Employers fund the Workforce Training Fund Program through the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. Among the skills supported by the grant are project management, machine setup and operations, information technology and software, and other workplace skills.
General Program grants of $7.5 million were included in this latest round to train over 6,400 workers at 114 companies.
